About this site
audiodelaytest.com is a small, independent set of free browser tools for measuring audio delay: how far sound lags behind the picture on headphones, speakers and TVs.
Who makes it
The site is built and maintained by teasoup, an independent developer. It is not affiliated with any headphone, TV or audio brand, and there are no accounts, apps or paid tiers.
Why it exists
Out-of-sync sound is a common annoyance with wireless headphones, soundbars and casting, but most explanations stop at “it depends”. The aim here is to give you a number for your own devices, explain what it means, and point to the settings that usually help, without overselling how precise a browser can be.
How the tools measure
- Sync slider and loop mode – sounds are scheduled on the browser’s audio clock and the flash is drawn on the matching screen frame; you line the two up by eye.
- Tap test and Bluetooth beat test – your taps are timed against the same clock; reaction time and tapping habits are subtracted where possible.
- Microphone loopback – short chirps are played and recorded, and a cross-correlation finds the round-trip delay.
- Slow-motion frame calculator – converts a frame count from a slow-motion video into milliseconds.
Every result is an estimate of the whole playback chain, and each page says how large the error of its method can be. The verdict bands use the averages published in Recommendation ITU-R BT.1359.
